  • 250 g Plain wholemeal flour

  • 250 g Plain white flour

  • 1 tsp Sea salt

  • 400 ml Buttermilk

Instructions

Step by step

    Heat the oven to 200°C fan (400°F). Dust a baking sheet with flour.

    Mix the flours, soda and salt in a wide bowl. Make a well; pour in the buttermilk.

    Stir with a knife until it just comes together — do not knead.

  4. 4

    Turn out, shape into a round, and slash a deep cross on top (the fairies need to escape).

  5. 5

    Bake 30- until it sounds hollow tapped underneath.

  6. 6

    Cool on a rack ; eat warm with salted butter.
