Voice
Your recipes. Your voice.
Find, save, organise and cook — all by voice. Turn on Voice in your Profile, tap the mic (or say "Hey Recipe") and talk to Recipe Filer the way you'd talk to a friend in the kitchen.
Recipe Filer lets you search recipes, ask what cooking terms mean, copy recipes into cookbooks, send ingredients to your shopping list, hear nutrition, find recipes for your leftovers, plan meals and cook hands-free, all by voice.
How to use voice on Recipe Filer
- 1
Turn voice on
Go to Profile → Voice search and switch it on. Optionally enable the "Hey Recipe" wake word.
- 2
Tap the mic
Tap the orange microphone in the corner of any page. A green ring means it's listening; a red dot means it's paused.
- 3
Say what you want
Speak naturally — "find me a quick chicken dinner", "what does fold mean?", "add this to my meal plan for Thursday".
- 4
Pick, filter or save
Say a number to open a result, "only mine" or "quick ones" to narrow it down, or "save these as my weeknight list".

Voice FAQs
- Which browsers support voice?
- Chrome, Edge and Safari on desktop and mobile, including iPhone and Android.
- Is my voice recorded?
- No. Your browser turns speech into text and we only use the words needed to answer you. The mic pauses automatically when you switch tabs or go idle.
- Does voice search include my private recipes?
- Yes — when you're signed in, voice search covers your private recipes and cookbooks shared with you as well as public and historical recipes. Only you can see your private results.
- Can voice tell me the calories in a recipe?
- Yes. Ask "how many calories in this?" on any recipe or in Kitchen View and we read the per-serving figures aloud. Say "full details" for the rest. Missing figures are estimated by AI and saved.
- Can voice help me use up leftovers?
- Say "what can I make with chicken and rice?" and we rank recipes from your cookbooks and the public directory by how many of those ingredients they use.
- Can voice plan my meals?
- Yes. Add any recipe to a day, hear what's planned for the week, or say "plan my week with quick dinners" to fill empty dinner slots with suggestions you accept by voice.
