Cookbooks & sharing
Sharing and Printing: what are all the ways to share and print on Recipe Filer?
Answer
Recipe Filer is built for sharing family food — here is every way to share your cookbooks, recipes, shopping lists and meal plans, and how to print them.
Sharing a whole cookbook
- View-only link, QR code or Book Code: open the cookbook and tap QR / Share. Copy the link, show or download the QR code, or give out the 10-digit Book Code. Anyone with it can read the cookbook but can't change anything.
- Co-editors: tap Invite a friend to email a private, single-use invite. Co-editors can add and edit recipes with you — perfect for building a family cookbook together. You can see, resend or cancel invites at any time.
- Privacy settings: choose Public (listed in the Recipe Filer Directory and searchable on Google), All pages shared, Selected pages shared, or All except your Secret recipes — Secret recipes stay hidden even when the rest of the book is shared.
Sharing a single recipe
Every recipe page has a Share button: copy the link, use your phone's share sheet, or post straight to Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Telegram, Reddit or email (for Instagram and TikTok we copy the link for your caption or bio). Each recipe also has its own QR code, and you can copy a recipe into another cookbook.
Sharing your shopping list
On the Shopping List tap Share list and enter an email address — you can share with up to 10 people. Everyone sees the same live list, so whoever is in the supermarket can tick items off and the rest of the family sees it instantly. You can also send the list as a phone-friendly image, a printable PDF, an email or copied text for WhatsApp or Notes.
Sharing your meal plan
In the Meal Planner tap Share to create a read-only link to this week's plan and its shopping list — your partner or family can open it without an account, and you can switch the link off any time. You can also email the week's plan.
Printing
- A single recipe: open the recipe and tap Print for a clean, one-page layout — print it, or choose "Save as PDF" in your browser's print window.
- A whole cookbook: tap Prepare for print on the cookbook to download a free, print-ready A4 ring-binder PDF (one recipe per page) to print at home or at any local print shop, or a 6×9" book-format PDF ready for professional printing and binding.
- Before you print: we check for recipes that only have a video and prompt you to add a photo, so every printed page has a picture. Secret recipes are left out of shared copies but can still be included when you print your own book.
- Shopping lists: export an A4 aisle-sorted PDF with tick boxes to take shopping.
