How to import from Zestio
- 1Open Zestio and go to Settings → Export.
- 2Save the JSON file (or zip archive with photos).
- 3Everything comes across — ingredients, steps, photos, source URLs.
- 4Final step: Come back to this page and click "Upload your file" on the right (or below on mobile). Pick the file you just exported and we'll parse every recipe automatically.

Is the import free?
Yes. Importing recipes is always free — even for anonymous visitors. You only need an account to save what you import to your permanent cookbook shelf.
Will my Zestio photos come with me?
Yes. Where photos are embedded (Paprika, Mela, Recipe Keeper, Cookmate, Evernote) we extract them from the file. Where they're linked via URL, we fetch and rehost them to our own storage so they never break — even if the source site goes down.
How does deduplication work?
Every import compares title + first ingredient against your existing recipes in the target cookbook. Exact matches are skipped. We show you the skip count when the import finishes so you can spot anything unexpected.
How big an import can I do?
Files up to 50 MB and URL batches up to 500 at a time. That's typically enough for a decade of home cooking. Need more? Contact us at contactus@recipefiler.com.
