Import your recipes from MacGourmet.

MacGourmet is no longer maintained — rescue every recipe you love into RecipeFiler.

How to import from MacGourmet

  1. 1Open MacGourmet on your Mac (Mavericks/High Sierra recommended).
  2. 2Screenshot each recipe (Shift-Cmd-4).
  3. 3Or export to plain text and drop that on /import — either works.
  4. 4Final step: Come back to this page and click "Open Scan" on the right (or below on mobile). Drop your screenshots one at a time — our OCR rebuilds each one into a fully editable recipe.

Frequently asked

Is the import free?

Yes. Importing recipes is always free — even for anonymous visitors. You only need an account to save what you import to your permanent cookbook shelf.

Will my MacGourmet photos come with me?

Yes. Where photos are embedded (Paprika, Mela, Recipe Keeper, Cookmate, Evernote) we extract them from the file. Where they're linked via URL, we fetch and rehost them to our own storage so they never break — even if the source site goes down.

How does deduplication work?

Every import compares title + first ingredient against your existing recipes in the target cookbook. Exact matches are skipped. We show you the skip count when the import finishes so you can spot anything unexpected.

How big an import can I do?

Files up to 50 MB and URL batches up to 500 at a time. That's typically enough for a decade of home cooking. Need more? Contact us at contactus@recipefiler.com.
