60 ml Pure maple syrup
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
30 g Unsalted butter — cut into small cubes
100 ml Water — for baking dish
Tools
- · Apple corer or small knife
- · Small baking dish
- · Measuring jug
- · Spoon
Instructions
Step by step
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan).
- 2
Use an apple corer or small knife to remove the core from each apple, leaving the base intact so the filling doesn't leak out.
- 3
Place the apples in a small baking dish that holds them snugly.
- 4
Mix the maple syrup and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
- 5
Spoon the maple mixture into the hollowed centre of each apple, dividing it evenly.
- 6
Top each apple with a few cubes of butter.
- 7
Pour the water into the base of the dish — this will help the apples steam and prevent sticking.
- 8
Bake for 30–, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a knife and the skins have started to split a little.
- 9
Spoon the syrupy juices from the dish over the apples before serving warm.
