4 oz softened butter
4 oz castor sugar
1 orange — incl. grated rind and 30 ml of juice
2 eggs — beaten
4 oz ground almonds — (113 g)
6 oz semolina
10 ml baking powder — (2 tsp)
5 ml almond essence — (1 tsp)
200 ml Grand Marnier syrup — pre-prepared
300 ml water
4 oz granulated sugar

- · spring loaded 9 inch (22 cm) x 2 inch non-stick loose bottom cake tin
Instructions
Step by step

Beat the Butter, Sugar and finely grated Zest of Orange rind until light and fluffy.

Gradually beat in the Eggs.

Then beat in the Almonds / Almond Essence / Semolina and Baking Powder along with 30 ml of Orange Juice. Blend evenly.

Spoon mixture into a tin and level.

Bake @ 220°C (fan 200°C) for then Bake @ 180°C (fan 160°C) for .

Torte should be well browned and firm and a cocktail stick in the centre of the torte should come out clean.

Cool in the tin for 10- before turning out.

Dip a wet cocktail stick into the torte all over the surface. Pour the syrup over the top and allow to penetrate the torte. Dust with icing sugar.
